Aleutian Island Waterfowlers operates the largest fleet of layout boats in all of Alaska with 5 total, 2 custom 2 man core-sound layouts, as pictured here and 3 single man UFO layout boats. 100% of all Guided Alaska Sea Duck Hunts is done from the layout boats for Pacific Eiders, Scoters and Long-Tails, and Brant after Nov 1st. The early season allows us to hunt shore blinds for Brant, Puddle-ducks and Canadas. Also, Harlequin in season can be harvested from points and shore blinds. Layout boats are a highly effective tool for Open water hunting and with our years of experience you can be assured you’ll always be safe. We recommend to blend in grey cover jackets and grey bomber style hats.

We take up to 8 hunters on our Alaska Sea duck hunts with 3 guides. This provides the most personal services available. Our Sea Duck hunts run 7 days with 6 full days of guided hunting. We start our hunts the end of October and run until Dec 16th when the season closes. We provide all meals, lodging and fully guided hunting over decoys with boats, among with walk in hunts on local ponds streams and estuaries. The average temperature o our Guided Alaska Sea Duck Hunts ranges around 25 -35 degrees and we hunt in snow camo and grey camo for all layout boat hunts and depending on the conditions. Our normal backdrop is lightly frozen covered shorelines this time of year. We will be targeting Drake Pacific Eiders , These birds are very weather dependent as the live offshore a good Hunt would consist of getting a couple drake Pacifics. Its very rare a hunter kills four. As they spend too much time chasing all the other trophies including Harlequin,Scoters and Longtails sea ducks and looking for the trophy puddle ducks including the eurasian wigeon.
